This Friday night, I and my internship’s colleagues went KTV (karaoke) to enjoy our company's out-dating night. Thank our dear Florence for spending time to organize this cooperate night for us. The night was great, yet it would be more cheerful if our lovely Diana could make it, as she sings beautifully. I've listened to her performances three times in the club. Many people get attracted to her lovely, cheerful smile (so do I) For three year staying in Singapore, this is the first time I go KTV! I must be really damn boring guy! When I was in Vietnam, KTV, LAN games, billiards, and footballs… were almost my daily routines with high school buddies. Here, in this busy country, people is rushing to office at early morning, working like hell and then sleeping on the train back home as if they haven’t rested for ages. And I’m also stuck into that circle. Everything changes so fast, so do my habits. At this moment, the only best friend of mine here is… the computer You may say things in Singapore are better than that in Vietnam. I agree in some aspects, not the entertainment. Looking at this KTV and comparing it to Vietnam’s, you can tell! Located at the basement of a huge tower, this KTV has full of small rooms decorated in old boring Chinese style, no toilet inside, and the price is more than 40$ / person… In Vietnam, I can come to the high class ones, and enjoy singing in big and nice room with far more affordable prices. Going out like KTV, billiards, movies… are standard in both countries. But I think Singapore is too expensive, not only to me, for Singaporean as well. One good thing about KTV here is the computerized song selection system that has a lot of songs categorized nicely in many languages. Not like some place in my hometown where we still use the troublesome flipping book to find the song. My colleagues and their spouses sang wonderful, most of the songs were in Chinese. Although I did not understand a single word, I still enjoyed it. I also “performed” one Vietnamese song "Tinh khuc vang”. I guessed that because of my terrible voice, the ladies were only attracted to nice-looking singer Dan Truong, and didn't listen to me. After the KTV, I shared taxi with them and went to Luke's house in Eunos, as we had an appointment. Luke and I then went to a food court nearby his house for the supper. Then, we decided to walk around Geylang to check out this "red light area". We walked for more than 4 hours, and saw lots of surprising things that shouldn’t exist here at the first place: prostitution, and they were everywhere! Many girls and gays were standing in front of houses waving at us as we walked by. Some were pretty, some were not. But they were all in heavy make-up, sexy “clothes”. They smiled at us, a tired smile… I noticed that Luke was sometimes afraid of the people there, me too… especially when we walked to dark area or the gays’ place…looking at their faces, their dressing, make-up, high heal shoe, their muscle arms… It’s disgusting… We always tried to walk fast, most of the time, in silent… Can you believe that most all the houses here involving in dirty business? Yes, it’s true! The streets are full of massage houses, private clubs, adult sex toy shops… They even put the service price per hour on the door! This odd town made me freaking shock. Everything is upside down inside me. Even though knowing that Sex industry is not prohibited here, I still couldn’t believe in what I saw, a totally different world from the rest… But I have to admit that it is really an interesting experience about Singapore. It was almost 5:20 am when we reached home. I have to stop writing and go to bed now… 6am sitting alone, typing blog… freaking tired then. My buddy, Luke already slept. I think he's not used walking in such a long hours like this.
